Design that makes a statement.

Georg Eisl: The Creative Mind Behind ORIGINAL+ Skis

“A gentleman enjoys—and stays silent.”
– Georg Eisl on spotting his ski design out on the slopes

A great ski design is more than just good looks. It’s expression, attitude—and it sticks in your memory. Every skier knows the sideways glance: at the skis of others. On the lift, in the gondola, or waiting at the slope. And that’s exactly where design begins to speak.

At ORIGINAL+, we combine technology and individualization—while giving each ski its own unmistakable character. For this, we’ve teamed up from the very beginning with a creative partner who knows how to turn vision into identity: Georg Eisl, founder of K12 DESIGN, a design agency based in Bad Ischl.

Ski Design: Where Art Meets Engineering

Designing a ski is no ordinary task. The surface is narrow, long, and anything but easy to work with. A design has to impress across just a few centimeters—at every speed and in every light condition.

What it takes: Reduction. Sensitivity. Boldness. And above all: passion.

Georg Eisl brings all of that to the table. He’s been designing for international brands for over 20 years—and has been part of ORIGINAL+ from day one. His signature can be felt in every model. Time to get to know him a little better:

Interview: Georg Eisl – Ski Designer at ORIGINAL+

O+: How did your collaboration with ORIGINAL+ begin?
Georg: I got to know Sigi Rumpfhuber during his time at Fischer and mine at Kiska Design. After his restart with Kästle and my founding of K12 Design, he approached me again and our collaboration continued—all the way to developing and designing his own ski brand, communication, and product design for ORIGINAL+.

What do you appreciate about ORIGINAL+?
I’ve always valued Sigi’s professionalism and drive—and those are exactly the qualities I admire in the ORIGINAL+ brand as well.

What does skiing mean to you personally?
Workout, balance, and a connection with nature.

Do you have a skiing hero? Why?
Hermann Maier—because he redefined what was possible in ski racing.

What’s special about designing a ski?
The “impossible” shape of the surface you’re designing for.

What motivates your design work?
Positioning the brand as strongly as possible and evoking emotion.

What inspires you?
Nature, the mountains, and the ambition to create something unique.

What’s been your most fulfilling design project so far?
Ski design—what else?! 😉

What’s your most important lesson from 20 years in graphic design?
You can’t force anyone to love great design.

How does it feel to see someone next to you on the chairlift riding skis you designed? Do you say anything?
“A gentleman enjoys—and stays silent!” 😉

Who or what would you love to design for?
For anyone who truly appreciates good design.

“Positioning the brand in the best way possible and conveying a feeling—that’s what drives me.”
