• Do my ORIGINAL+ skis come with the bindings pre-mounted?

  Your ORIGINAL+ skis will be delivered with the bindings pre-mounted, i.e. no drilling will be necessary to mount the bindings. The pre-mounting is done based on the sole length of the ski boot you provide us when placing the order. Should you change your ski boots length slightly in future, this typically is no problem as minor adjustments to the bindings can be done without re-drilling.

   

• Do my ORIGINAL+ skis come with the bindings adjusted?

  We are legally only allowed to adjust your bindings with your boots at hand, as we are required to run an inspection on your ski boots as well and can only control the functional unit of ski-bindings-boots. Please make sure you have your bindings adjusted professionally once you’ve received your skis. We’re happy to do that in our ORIGINAL+ Factory Store or our ORIGINAL+ Service-Center in Salzburg. In addition, all our Competence Partners worldwide will happily assist in adjusting and controlling your binding setup.

  Please contact us if you would like to send us your ski boots so we can do the adjustment for you prior to sending you the ski. If you adjust the bindings yourself, e.g. by following YouTube video instructions, then this is at your own risk and not recommended.

   

• How will my ORIGINAL+ skis be shipped?

  Your skis will be packaged in a strong carton and shipped globally via DPD. We will send you a tracking no. via e-mail once we have handed your package over to DPD. You can then make changes to your delivery date, time etc. directly on the DPD website or via the DPD app.

• What’s the delivery time for my ORIGINAL+ ski?

  Our delivery time is 2 to 10 weeks, depending on your specific order. We can give you an exact delivery date once you’ve completed your configuration.

  The ski graphics go through several rounds of paintwork, taking up the most time in our production process. That’s also why an individual graphic involves higher costs and results in a longer delivery time of 10 weeks. It is worth the wait though, as your patience will be rewarded with a truly unique looking ski!

• How can I pay for my ORIGINAL+ skis?

  The following payment options are available: PayPal, credit card, advance payment or instant bank transfer.

• Which credit cards do you accept?

  We accept Visa and MasterCard without surcharge.

   

• When will my credit card be charged?

  Your credit card will be charged immediately with the full amount.

   

• Are there any additional fees when using a credit card?

  No, there is no surcharge.

• Re advance payment: when do I receive the ORIGINAL+ bank details?

  Our bank details are included in the final order confirmation. If you haven’t received an e-mail from us, please check your spam folder.

• Re advance payment: which reference should I provide with the bank transfer?

  In order to ensure a quick and seamless service, we need the order number and your full name to be referenced in the bank transfer.

• Re advance payment: by when do I need to transfer my payment?

  Please transfer your payment right after you’ve received the final order confirmation.

• Does ORIGINAL+ produce independently?

  Yes. ORIGINAL+ is one of only two Austrian ski manufacturers that are 100 % Austrian (the other one is Fischer); it’s the only one that can claim “made in Austria” without restrictions.

• Does ORIGINAL+ manufacture in Austria?

  Yes, to be exact: in Salzburg. Your ORIGINAL+ skis are 100 % made in Austria, and manufactured in one of the most modern factories in the world. We work with state-of-the-art machinery operated by highly skilled and very experienced ski developers and ski builders.

• How long has ORIGINAL+ been operating?

  ORIGINAL+ was founded in Salzburg in 2016. After two years of development, we’ve been selling customized skis since October 2018. Since our launch we have won two of the sporting goods industry’s most prestigious awards (ISPO Gold & ISPO Brandnew) and sold approximately 1,200 pairs of skis with our Perfect Fit Guarantee.

• How come you have the know-how for building skis?

  ORIGINAL+ founder Siegfried Rumpfhuber has been an integral part of skiing for more than two decades: as a ski racer, product manager at Fischer and General Manager/Co-owner at Kästle. Our ski technician Franz Angerer was Head of Race Development and Race Production at Blizzard/Nordica. Besides, we have highly skilled and very experienced ski developers and ski builders in our factory.

• Who is the company owner and how is the ORIGINAL+ team set up?

  ORIGINAL+ CEO and majority owner Siegfried Rumpfhuber is a former FIS racer, state-certified ski instructor/guide and an excellent skier and alpinist. He works closely with Runtastic founder Florian Gschwandtner, who holds shares in ORIGINAL+ with his company 8eyes.

  The ORIGINAL+ team is made up of experienced and highly motivated people that all love, live and breathe skiing – 365 days a year. Get to know the people behind ORIGINAL+.

• Where is ORIGINAL+ based?

  The ORIGINAL+ headquarter including our Factory Store is located in Salzburg.

• Can I test ORIGINAL+ skis before making a purchase?

  Yes you can! We have a demo program and in winter we’re regularly touring ski resorts with our fleet of test skis. Check out upcoming dates here. Besides, you can also get ORIGINAL+ test skis at our Competence Partners or directly from our Factory Store. In any case you should register beforehand so that we can make sure we have a fitting ski ready for you to pick up.

• Isn’t rental the big thing right now? What’s your offer there?

  Our motto is customization instead of mass production. You’ll simply ski better with an individually adapted ski than with a ski “off the rack”. That’s why we don’t offer classic rental skis at ORGINAL+. You can, however, test a ski that fits you and your skiing style from one of our Competence Partners or our Factory Store any time.

   

• Where can I buy ORIGINAL+ skis?

  ORIGINAL+ skis are direct-to-consumer and exclusively sold through our website and our Factory Store. Since we operate without middlemen or big warehouses, you get unbeatable value for your money.

• Does ORIGINAL+ collaborate with other companies or ski schools?

  Yes. In order for you to get to know our products better and demo ORIGINAL+ skis before making a purchase, we collaborate with selected partners in prime ski resorts. That way you can check out our products, ask questions and experience ORIGINAL+ skis directly on site!

• What is the warranty/guarantee on my ORIGINAL+ skis?

  A custom ski has to fit 100 %. Period. That’s why we give you our “Perfect Fit Guarantee“. Should you not be satisfied with your ORIGINAL+ ski, we’ll either give you your money back or build a new ski for you.

  Additionally, all ORIGINAL+ skis come with a 2-year factory warranty. We test and measure each pair of skis in our lab against 22 quality criteria to ensure the highest level of workmanship and finish.

   

• Does ORIGINAL+ offer crash replacement?

  Skiing is an outdoor sport where you and your material are being exposed to the elements. Should you ever destroy your ski (think crash, rock contact, …), we will build the exact same ski again for you –  at a special price, of course.

• How are ORIGINAL+ skis constructed?

  We build all our skis in the so-called sandwich technology; that means different layers of wood, carbon, glass fiber, aluminum, plastics and steel are layered on top of each other and heat pressed in a mold. That way we can build up to 600 different construction variants.

• What materials are utilized in ORIGINAL+ skis?

  How a ski behaves strongly depends on the materials it’s made of. That’s why we only utilize materials of the highest quality on all ORIGINAL+ skis, such as: wood, carbon, glass fiber, aluminum, plastics, and steel. We source our materials carefully and almost exclusively work with European suppliers.

   

• Do my ORIGINAL+ skis come with a wood core?

  All ORIGINAL+ skis are built around high-quality wood cores. The core’s shape and type of wood(s) determine how the ski behaves on snow. Specific wood mixtures allow us to fine-tune your ski’s characteristics.

  In general, we utilize the following types of wood: ash, poplar, ash/poplar, and balsa.

   

• How do you make my ORIGINAL+ skis personal?

  Your ORIGINAL+ skis are fully adapted to your build, skiing style and technique – in ski width, ski length, ski stiffness, layer construction, binding setup and ski tuning.

• How exactly will my my ORIGINAL+ skis being customized?

  In a first step, ORIGO selects your optimal ski length and ski width from a range of basic ORIGINAL+ models. We then build your skis layer by layer, customizing the following parameters according to your personal ORIGO configuration: longitudinal flex, torsional stiffness, damping properties, weight and tuning.

• What are the basic ORIGINAL+ models?

  The ORIGINAL+ base models are: Piste, Piste+, All Mountain, Touring and Freeride. Within the Piste ski category you’ll find slalom skis, cross carvers and giant slalom skis.

  Every ORIGINAL+ base model is made for a different playground. The intended way of skiing predefines the ski’s construction to a certain extent. In particular, this concerns the geometric radius (which actually doesn’t say that much about the turning radius) and standard components in the ski, such as: steel edges, base, tip and tail caps. And still, every single ORIGINAL+ ski is unique, because your personal ski configuration determines exactly what’s inside your individual ski.

• Why do I need a custom ski in the first place?

  By adapting your skis to your individual needs we optimize the interaction between you and your skis. After all, only when your equipment fits you 100 %, you’ll be able to tap your full potential. The result: you will ski better, safer and with more fun.

• How are ORIGINAL+ skis different from regular skis available in retail stores?

  The moment you order your ORIGINAL+ skis, they don’t even exist yet. Because we build them for you – just for you – as soon as we know your personal configuration. While the established brands produce skis as off-the-shelf products without knowing who will ever ski them, your ORIGINAL+ ski is truly unique. Just as you are!

• Is the quality of ORIGINAL + skis comparable to that of other top models on the market?

  In terms of quality our skis are in no way inferior to those of the big players, quite the opposite: the technological level of our R&D department is comparable to that of a pro race room. Our process of functional customizing allows us to build perfectly fitting skis that are usually restricted to pro athletes.

  In terms of the materials utilized we do as experienced cooks do and use only the best ingredients. Examples needed? Our bases are part of the P-Tex 5000 series that is normally used in the World Cup exclusively. The same goes for our steel edges. For carbon fabrics we rely on 50K filament strings.

  Experts know the score, all others rest assured: the marketing of some of our competitors is creative and sometimes dishonest; we don’t play that game and limit ourselves to giving only true technical specifications. • Why do you need all the data from me?

  Our ski configurator ORIGO is backed up by data and delivers product recommendations that are right on target and more accurate than an average in-store sales talk. In order to calculate your personal ski configuration our software needs some information about yourself, your preferences and your skiing style. The more data, the better the recommendation. We exclusively use your data to enhance your product experience, and nothing else.

• How come ORIGINAL+ skis are relatively affordable in comparison to other custom skis?

  It’s thanks to our digital ski configurator ORIGO. This online tool fulfills the tasks of a ski developer by interpreting your personal data and configuring a ski – with the help of artificial intelligence. With direct-to-consumer sales online and via our Factory Store and without middlemen we can offer you individually adapted ORGINAL+ skis from as low as 660 €

• What’s the artificial intelligence in ORIGINAL+ skis?

  When developing your individual ORIGINAL+ skis, we make use of our ski configurator ORIGO. It’s based on a self-learning software developed by the Salzburg based company Fact A.I. that is able to process big amounts of biometrical, ski geometrical and riding style related data and configure individual skis from that.

• Does ORIGINAL+ make snowboards too?

  No. We’re skiers with heart and soul, and we focus on what we do best: build custom skis.

• Does ORIGINAL+ produce bindings too and can I get a binding for my ski from you?

  Bindings are a highly complex product and there’s only a handful of producers worldwide. This is why we concentrate on our core competence of building skis and don’t produce bindings ourselves. Instead, we collaborate with the most important manufacturers: Tyrolia, Fritschi, and Atomic. That way we can offer you a wide range of different bindings to go with your ORIGINAL+ skis. At the end of your ski configuration we’ll recommend one specific binding for your perfect setup and pre-mount it on your skis.
